and save those to the same folder as the mesh files.

Choose the textures you wish to export and right click > Export > to file. Sometimes there are multiple ones and in those cases I'd just recommend grabbing them all, no harm in doing that since anything that turns out useless can be just deleted afterwards. Next we'll grab the textures, those are tagged as _IMG, the one(s) you need will be gray scale one, not the red-green-blue ones. Highlight the GEOM files and then right click & choose " Export > To File." then export those files to your folder and hit on "ok".ģ. The mesh files are tagged as " GEOM" I usually just extract them all at once because I have no idea which one of them is the highest lod going by the information that shows up. What we need there is to grab the mesh and texture file.

Then open up S3pe and just drag and drop the file to it, click on import and "no" when it asks if you want to autosave it.

First you obviously need to download the file you wish to use, if it happens to be in Sims3pack format you'll have to first turn it into a package file with Delphy's Sims 3 pack Multi-Extracter.

(and there are many more tutorials hosted on Mod the sims if you just search their forums)ĮXTRACTING SIMS 3 FILE FOR CONVERTING:1. Something to extract rar/zip files but I believe most people have those by defaultĪnd just because I like reading and comparing methods myself here are some other accessory tutorials I've found useful: (You can grab *cough* free CS5 or CS6 version here*cough*) Image editing software, you need one that can handle DDS files as well as the DDS plugins (but if you've installed SimPE and used it for any kind of texture editing you likely already have those installed). Milkshape obviously and a registeration key for it. Sims 2 base meshes, these aren't necessary but help some (Serenity-Fall has them extracted around half way down the page here, search for line "you can download TS2 body bases here.")

WesHowe's UniMesh plugins for MilkShape (pretty sure most already have them but if you don't now at least install them) These milkshape plugins by WesHowe to be able to import Sims 3 files to Milkshape (yes you'll need these for Sims 4 files too since they don't have their own plugins (yet?)) Sims 4 stuff (if converting from Sims 4): Delphy's Sims 3 Pack Multi-Extracter if your accessory is in Sims3pack format These milkshape plugins by WesHowe to be able to import Sims 3 files to Milkshape Sims 3 stuff (if converting from Sims 3): To prepare you're going to need few things: As an extra I will also show how you can make morphing accessories (morphing in this case meaning that it will move with the face instead of being stuck in one height)
#Turn image into 3d mesh sims 4 how to
This tutorial is split in parts, first we'll go through how to extract files from Sims 3, then go through how to extract files from Sims 4 (custom objects only for both) and then how to create the new mesh file and texture for Sims 2.

#Turn image into 3d mesh sims 4 manual
Am I missing out on something?Īs a side note, is the printed 2.3 manual basically the same as what is currently available as the online manual? (The page shots of the book seem to be the same as what’s in the manual.Hermit_foxIt's tutorial time again! This time we'll take a look at converting accessories, basically the methods I'll go through should theoretically work also for converting stuff from other games but of course each game has it's own ways for extracting the files etc so there's no way I could cover it all so I'll stick with Sims 3 and Sims 4. later on in the tutorial) while playing with the armatures, I tried the very same technique involving the MKEY, but this time around, there wasn’t any “Mirroring options” popup when I pressed the MKEY. After making my selection, what I expect happens (if the 3D Cursor option is also selected ahead of time). After selecting it and entering edit mode, if I hit MKEY, then I get a mirroring menu that pops up. I had the same problems with the above mentioned tutorial (who is it that should be contacted regarding suggested changes?), and so far the scaling with a multiplier of -1 along the x-axis works, but the MKEY solution only works some of the time.Īn example of this is when I start a new blender file, and I make a cube. Sorry to be continuing the thread, but I’ve still got occasional problems with mirroring.
